Pooran's Blazing 87 Snatches Back Orange Cap in Dramatic Eden Gardens Showdown

Kolkata: Lucknow Super Giants' Nicholas Pooran's stormy form continues in IPL 2025. He showed the power of his bat on the Eden Gardens ground against Kolkata Knight Riders. He came out to bat in the 11th over. The team was given a great start by Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh. After the first setback at the score of 99, Pooran came out to bat and dominated as soon as he came.


Pooran hit fifty on 21 balls


Nicholas Pooran hit fifty on just 21 balls in this match. He came close to a century but missed it due to the over ending. Pooran scored an unbeaten 87 off 36 balls at a strike rate of 241. This is his biggest innings in IPL. His innings included 7 fours and 8 sixes. He got to play only four balls in the last two overs. Because of this he could not score a century.


Took back the Orange Cap in a few minutes


Before this match, Nicholas Pooran had the Orange Cap. But Mitchell Marsh had won it with explosive batting. When Marsh was out, the Orange Cap was with him but by the end of the innings, Pooran again got the Orange Cap. In 5 innings of 5 matches, Pooran has 288 runs at an average of 72 and a strike rate of 225. Marsh has so far scored 265 runs at an average of 53 and a strike rate of 180. Marsh also missed a century in this match. He was dismissed after scoring 81 runs off 48 balls.


Lucknow made the second highest score

With the help of Nicholas Pooran's unbeaten 87 runs off 36 balls, Lucknow Super Giants scored 238 runs for three wickets in the IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Earlier, Mitchell Marsh gave Lucknow a great start by scoring 81 runs off 48 balls and Aiden Markram scored 47 runs off 28 balls. Both of them added 99 runs for the first wicket. This is the team's second highest score in IPL.
