Prayagraj, 17 February 2025: An unprecedented crowd of devotees is being seen in the Prayag Mahakumbh Mela. On February 17, more than 1.35 crore (13.5 million) devotees took a holy bath in the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati. Thus, since the beginning of the fair on January 13, 2025, a total of more than 54.31 crore (543.1 million) devotees have taken a dip of faith in this great festival, which is a historical record.
Amazing shade of spirituality and devotion
The Mahakumbh Mela of Prayagraj is the largest religious and spiritual gathering in the world, where saints, mahatmas, devotees and tourists from the country and abroad come. The importance of Kumbh Mela is very big not only religiously but also culturally, socially and historically.
Main attractions:
- Royal bath: Sadhus and saints of various Akharas made an auspicious beginning by taking a royal bath in the Ganges.
- Religious discourses: Sermons of spiritual knowledge are being given by famous saints, mahatmas and gurus.
- Cultural programs: Bhajans, kirtans, yoga camps and spiritual seminars are being held.
- Akhand Bhandaara: Free prasad distribution and bhandaras are being organized for lakhs of devotees.
Heavy crowd, but excellent management
Despite the crowd of devotees on such a large scale, the administration has managed the arrangements smoothly. More than 10,000 policemen and NDRF teams have been deployed in view of security. The fair is being monitored through drone cameras and CCTVs so that no untoward incident occurs.
Under health facilities, emergency medical camps have been set up, and cleanliness arrangements have also been kept in order so that the devotees do not face any kind of trouble.
A confluence of spiritual purification and faith
The devotees coming to the Kumbh Mela believe in earning virtue by bathing in the Ganges for liberation from sins and spiritual purification. Saints say that this fair is not only religious, but also a symbol of unity of humanity.
As the Kumbh Mela is moving towards its peak, this wonderful stream of faith is becoming even more massive. By the end of February, crores more devotees are expected to take bath in the confluence.
