Prime Patna Land Grab: 17 Bighas of Waqf Property Worth ₹500+ Crore Illegally Occupied

Patna. After the Waqf Amendment Bill 'Umeed' i.e. Unified Waqf Management Empowerment, Efficiency and Development was passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, now President Draupadi Murmu has also signed it and now it has become a law. It is being said that with the implementation of this law, action can be taken against illegal occupation of Waqf properties and its rightful claimants will get the rights. Let us tell you that there are more than 39 lakh Waqf Board assets across the country, out of which lakhs of cases are disputed. Similarly, there are thousands of Waqf properties in Bihar and hundreds are disputed. Now that the new Waqf law has been made, people have become curious to know how much Waqf property is there in Bihar and how many of them are disputed. Let us know about this in detail.

According to the information, there are more than 3000 Waqf properties in Bihar, out of which the Sunni Waqf Board alone has more than 2900 assets, while the Shia Waqf Board has 327 assets including 117 properties in Patna. The Sunni Waqf Board is also said to have seven and a half thousand bighas of land. The special thing is that there are hundreds of disputed lands and properties in these. According to Sunni Waqf Board Chairman Mohammad Irshadullah, the case of 250 to 300 properties of Sunni Waqf Board is pending in the tribunal and the High Court. 25% of the land of Sunni Waqf Board is also occupied. Due to lack of survey, there is no correct assessment of how much land is there. Whereas, according to Shia Waqf Board Chairman Afzal Abbas, there is also illegal occupation of Shia Waqf Board's land. Out of these, about 138 cases are pending in the Waqf Tribunal and 37 cases in the High Court.

Illegal occupation at Dak Bungalow Square in the capital Patna

According to the Waqf Board, the Waqf Board also has property worth crores of rupees in Patna, the capital of Bihar. Mohammad Irshad, who has been the chairman of the Shia Waqf Board, has told that land mafias have illegally occupied about 17 bighas of land at many places including Dak Bungalow Square in Patna. There is illegal occupation of about 17 bighas of land at Dak Bungalow Square. However, according to the information, 146 occupiers have also lost the legal battle.

Graveyard land in Bihar is also included in Waqf State

According to the Minority Welfare Department of Bihar, graveyards are also included in Waqf State. All the graveyards in the state are being fenced. 9273 graveyards have been identified in Bihar, out of which 8774 graveyards have been fenced, while fencing of 367 graveyards is going on. Fencing of 132 graveyards is going on.
