Protests erupt in Delhi against online gaming, citizens demand strict regulation

New Delhi: A protest was held at Subhash Nagar Chowk in West Delhi against online and mobile gaming. Participants held banners with various slogans. Addressing the gathering, Paramjit Singh Pamma, who led the protest, said it is deeply regrettable that online games are ruining children's futures and are now proving to be deadly. Children become so engrossed in these games that if they are stopped, they either commit suicide or attack their families in some way.

    The banners displayed these slogans:

    • Ban Online Games
    • Ban Online Gaming
    • Online Games are the killers of children

Age Limit Should Be Set for Social Media

He further stated that such incidents are constantly coming to light. The government should take strict action and monitor the apps that are pushing children towards criminal activities. He also demanded that the government set an age limit for joining social media. In many countries, children under 16 cannot access social media. Schools should also be instructed not to assign homework on mobile phones. This gives children an excuse; they claim to be doing schoolwork, and under this pretext, they connect to various apps.

    Demand for Immediate Ban

Pamma also appealed to people to send their children to parks and keep a close eye on their mobile phones to see which apps they are using, so that children can be protected from the dangers of online gaming. Paramjit Singh Pamma and Bhavna Dhawan, National President of the National Akali Dal Women's Wing, and Rashmeet Kaur Bindra expressed concern over online betting and gambling games. Such games are addictive and cause financial and mental harm to people. They said that these games should be banned.
