Punjab & Delhi Players Evacuated from Dharamshala Safely, Special Vande Bharat Arranged by Railways

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has thanked the Indian Railways for arranging a special train for the people involved in the IPL. The players and support staff of Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals were in Dharamshala after the match was canceled on 8 May. These teams, commentators and production crew were transported to New Delhi on 9 May.

    IPL suspended

The match was canceled due to increasing tension between India and Pakistan. After this this decision was taken. The BCCI has postponed the 2025 IPL for a week. The match of Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala was also canceled midway after the tension between India and Pakistan increased. After this a special train was arranged to bring the players and support staff back to Delhi. A video of players traveling in the train has been posted on IPL's X handle.

Thank you, @RailMinIndia, for arranging a special Vande Bharat train on such short notice to ferry the players, support staff, commentators, production crew members, and operations staff to New Delhi.

Match had to be stopped due to blackout

Actually, the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals had to be stopped midway due to blackout in Himachal Pradesh. Tensions had increased between India and Pakistan. Pakistan had attacked many places in India with drones and missiles. Due to this, electricity was cut off. Pakistan did this when India attacked terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

This attack was a response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. As the tension escalated, Pakistan sent missiles and drones across the LoC and international borders. However, the Indian security system stopped them. The spectators present in the stadium in Dharamsala came out peacefully. The BCCI said on May 9 that IPL 2025 has been stopped immediately for a week. However, this ban is temporary. The BCCI has said that a new schedule will be released soon.
