Raghav Chadha raises airline baggage fees and delay compensation issue in House

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha raised an important issue related to air passengers in Parliament. AAP MP Raghav Chadha highlighted the problems faced by air passengers in the country and the double standards of airline companies. The Rajya Sabha MP stated that airlines charge passengers extra per kilogram for even slightly overweight baggage, while passengers receive no compensation for flight delays of several hours. He urged the Civil Aviation Minister to create a mechanism to address this issue.

What did Raghav Chadha say in Parliament?

Raghav Chadha said that if your baggage is just one kilogram overweight, airlines charge thousands of rupees as excess baggage fees. He said that the situation is such that some people now leave their belongings at the airport because the cost of their luggage is not as expensive as the baggage charges levied by the airlines.

The AAP MP said that if your baggage is one kilogram overweight, the airline charges you thousands of rupees, but do airlines compensate passengers for flight delays of several hours? He said, "I would like to request the Honorable Minister today to create a mechanism so that airlines compensate ordinary passengers for every hour of flight delay. They should put money back into the passengers' pockets."

Debate on Accountability and Passenger Rights

AAP MP Raghav Chadha stated that flight delays by airline companies waste passengers' valuable time, increase their difficulties, and disrupt their plans. Therefore, airline companies should be held accountable. Raghav Chadha's point is certainly in the interest of the passengers. The MP's initiative is being widely appreciated by the public. Furthermore, raising this issue in Parliament has sparked a debate on the accountability of airline companies and the rights of passengers.
