‘Sarvatra Izzat-o-Iqbal’: Swadeshi Field Gun Crushes Terror Pads on LoC

New Delhi: Sarvatra Izzat-o-Iqbal (Everywhere with respect and pride), this is the motto of the Artillery Regiment of the Indian Army. With this motto, the guns of the Artillery Regiment on the Line of Control wreaked havoc on Pakistan. Shortly after the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on the night of 6-7 May, the Pakistani Army started shelling the Line of Control. To which the Indian Army gave a befitting reply. The Indian Army's indigenous 105 mm field gun not only targeted Pakistani posts but also fired shells on terrorist launch pads. An agreement was reached between the two countries to stop firing from 5 pm on May 10 and there was continuous firing on the LoC till the night before that.

Indigenous field guns created a lot of tension

The field guns that the Indian Army has are indigenous. Its ammunition is also indigenous. The range of the field gun is 17 kilometers. The position of the Indian Army and the position of the Pakistani Army on the LoC are not very far apart. All the posts of Pakistan come within the range of 7 kilometers to 11-12 kilometers. Therefore, the Indian Army used the most field guns. These field guns are suitable for high altitudes due to being light. Due to being light, 105 mm guns were deployed the most during the tension with China in Eastern Ladakh. By the way, the process of mediumization is going on in the Indian Army, that is, work is being done to make all artillery guns (cannons) of 155 mm caliber. But the 105 mm field guns are still doing very well.

Apart from field guns, these weapons are also available. Apart from field guns, Indian Army also has 130 mm guns, but these are less in number. 155 mm Bofors guns, Dhanush and M-777 are also deployed on LoC. Bofors guns were procured from Sweden. Its range is 30 to 34 km. It played an important role in the 1999 Kargil war. Its accuracy and effectiveness in mountainous areas make it special. The range of Dhanush is 27 to 36 km. Its specialty is high accuracy, it is effective in plains and mountainous areas. The range of M777 ultra-light howitzer is 32 to 40 km. It can also be transported from one place to another by Chinook helicopter. It can be deployed rapidly in mountainous areas.
