Scotland name T20 World Cup 2026 squad, Afghanistan-born player included

New Delhi: Scotland has been included in the T20 World Cup 2026, replacing Bangladesh. Their performance in the qualifiers wasn't exceptional, and they failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup initially. However, after Bangladesh's withdrawal, they secured a spot in the tournament. Scotland had the highest ranking among the teams that didn't qualify for the T20 World Cup, and this was the basis for their inclusion.

Scotland have announced their squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, confirming their participation in the tournament. The selection includes an Afghanistan-born player who has received his first call-up to the national side, highlighting Scotland’s growing talent pool.

The squad announcement comes as preparations begin for the marquee event, where Scotland will look to build on recent performances in international cricket. Team officials said the chosen players reflect a balance of experience and emerging talent as Scotland aims to compete strongly on the global stage.

Scotland squad for T20 World Cup 2026: Richie Berrington (captain), Tom Bruce, Matthew Cross, Bradley Currie, Oliver Davidson, Chris Greaves, Zainullah Ehsan, Michael Jones, Michael Leask, Finlay McCreath, Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Mark Watt, Bradley Wheal.

Traveling Reserves: Jasper Davidson, Jack Jarvis.

Non-Traveling Reserves: Mackenzie Jones, Chris McBride, Charlie Tear.
