Shia Muslims protest in Lucknow and Srinagar after reports of Khamenei’s death

New Delhi: Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died in a missile attack by Israel and the United States. Iran has confirmed this news. Consequently, Shia Muslims worldwide have expressed anger towards Israel and the United States. Its impact is being felt in India as well. From Srinagar to Jammu and Kashmir, Shia members are taking to the streets in various places to protest. Let's find out what impact this is having in India.

The Ministry of External Affairs has issued a statement saying that all foreign nationals in India who have had to change their travel plans due to ongoing developments in the West Asia region and who need assistance in extending their visas or regularizing their stay are requested to contact the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). The relevant FRRO will assist with the necessary formalities.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey posted on social media, saying, "A lesson for those who leave their Indian passports and go to Dubai: We are safe with Modi. It's easy to post long social media posts."

Amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, several flight cancellations in Hyderabad, Telangana, left passengers stranded at Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Airport. Flight operations from the Middle East have been halted due to security reasons, and airlines have diverted or cancelled their services.

Iran is a free country, and the attack against it is against all international laws. We strongly condemn this and appeal to the international community to step in and stop this war. We also appeal that those responsible for Khamenei's assassination be tried in the International Court. I appeal to people around the world, and especially to the people of our country, to maintain peace.

On the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Shia cleric Maulana Yasoob Abbas said that it is very unfortunate. The world thinks that Iran will be destroyed by killing Khamenei. America and Israel will receive a befitting reply from Iran. Today, a massive protest and demonstration will be held at the Imambara in Lucknow at 8:30 pm. The All India Shia Personal Law Board has announced a three-day mourning period, when everyone will wear black clothes and hoist black flags on their homes.
