Stone-pelting near Turkman Gate mosque in Delhi, police detain 10 suspects

A clash erupted near the Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque in the Turkman Gate area of Delhi during the removal of illegal constructions. During this operation, which continued late into the night, some anti-social elements started pelting stones at the police force deployed at the site. Four to five police officers were injured. The Delhi Police has indicated that it will take strict action in this entire matter.

According to police officials, the stone-pelters were identified with the help of body camera footage from the police officers on duty and CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity. 10 stone-pelters have been detained. Legal action will be taken against all the accused after the investigation, and an FIR has also been registered in this regard. Delhi Police and MCD officials clarified that this demolition drive was not against any religious place, but was entirely an action to remove illegal constructions under the orders of the High Court.

DCP Central Nidhin Valsan said that the operation started around 1 AM. Sufficient police force was deployed at the spot to maintain law and order and to deal with any untoward situation. According to DCP Nidhin Valsan, the MCD was taking action on encroached land as per the High Court's order. We had deployed our staff for security. During the operation, some people threw stones at the police at night. Mild force was used to control the situation. Overall, the process remained peaceful, but four to five police officers sustained minor injuries. Bodycams and CCTV footage will reveal the truth

Police say that several police officers were wearing bodycams during the entire operation. In addition, the entire incident was recorded by CCTV cameras installed at Turkman Gate and the surrounding areas. Delhi Police is now reviewing all this footage. According to officials, the footage has clarified who threw stones, at what time, and under what circumstances. Police sources say that the accused are being identified based on this technical evidence.

    Police attacked, five officers injured

The situation became tense when some people in the crowd suddenly started throwing stones at the police. According to the police, this stone-pelting appears to have been pre-planned, as some people were already present at the scene and trying to incite the crowd. The police officers injured in the stone-pelting were given first aid. Their condition is reported to be stable. Police officials have clearly stated that obstructing government work and attacking police officers is a serious crime, and no one involved will be spared.

No damage to the mosque, illegal structures removed

Officials said that the Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque was not damaged in any way. Both the police and the MCD have clarified that the mosque was not demolished at all. The action was taken only against illegal constructions around the mosque. According to the information, the structures that were removed included a part of a banquet hall, some illegal shops, and a dispensary. Officials say that all these constructions were built on encroached land and legal proceedings were already underway against them. They were removed only after a High Court order.

FIR registered, action will be taken against all

Delhi Police has registered an FIR in this case. According to sources, sections related to obstructing government work, attacking police, and disturbing public peace have been invoked. The DCP Central has clearly stated that those involved in the disturbance will be identified and strict action will be taken against all of them according to the law. Police are also investigating whether there was any conspiracy behind the incident or if the crowd was deliberately incited. If this is found to be the case, separate action will be taken against those responsible for the conspiracy.

Increased Police Deployment in the Area

Following the incident, additional police forces have been deployed in Turkman Gate and surrounding sensitive areas. Patrols are being conducted continuously to prevent any rumors or further violence. Police officials have appealed to local residents to maintain peace and not pay attention to rumors.
