Suryakumar Yadav Breaks Silence on 5-Year-Old Snub, Hints at Rift with Virat Kohli?

New Delhi: Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav said that the incident of ignoring him for the Indian team's limited tour of Australia inspired him to make one of his most memorable innings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Suryakumar then scored an unbeaten 79 off 43 balls while chasing the target against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi, giving Mumbai Indians a five-wicket win, which was one of his most memorable innings of IPL.

    Surya recalled his innings

However, it was a league match of IPL 2020. In this match, there were some tense moments on the field between then RCB and India captain Virat Kohli and him. Kohli did not say much, he just picked up the ball and walked to the striker's end where Suryakumar was batting. The Mumbai Indians batsman said in the 'Suryakumar Yadav Experience Show' on 'Jio Hotstar', 'It was an emotional innings because the team for the Australia tour was announced just a few days ago.' Now the Indian team's T20 captain Suryakumar said that he was expecting to go to Australia.

He said, 'I was preparing for this tour for the last few years. My domestic session and IPL were going well. I had prepared myself well for this season. Even during the COVID break, I took time to work on my body and mental health. I was hoping to be included in the T20 team. ' Suryakumar said, 'Everyone around me was thinking that I would go to Australia, including fellow players from other countries. I was already mentally prepared for that flight. But I was shocked when I was not selected. I could not understand what went wrong.'

    Suryakumar Yadav was very disappointed

He said, 'For the next two-three days I kept thinking, I did not talk to anyone. Then I took a break and did not even practice. I decided to 'relax'. Mahela Jayawardene and Zaheer Khan could feel it on the field.' Suryakumar revealed that teammate Kieron Pollard inspired him and said that this is the right platform to prove himself. He said, 'Pollard told me that this is the right platform to prove myself. The captain of the Indian team is also in the rival team and you had the right time to play a good innings.'
