Jaipur: The biggest moment in the history of the Indian Premier League was seen in Jaipur. 14-year-old boy Vaibhav Suryavanshi thrashed the legendary bowlers like children and created history by scoring a half-century in 17 balls and then a century in 35 balls. When he became the youngest batsman to score a half-century and a century, Rajasthan Royals easily achieved the target of 210 runs in a do-or-die match. With this win, Rajasthan Royals' hopes of reaching the playoffs remain intact. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 101 runs hitting 11 sixes and 7 fours, while after getting out, Rahul Dravid was seen welcoming the young batsman in a great style. Rajasthan won this match in 15.5 overs.
Gujarat Titans innings: Shubman Gill and Josh Butler hit half-centuries
Earlier, with the help of captain Shubman Gill's 84 runs in 50 balls, Gujarat Titans scored 209 runs for 4 wickets against Rajasthan Royals. The Gujarat Titans captain hit his fourth half-century of the season with the help of five fours and four sixes. He shared a 93-run partnership for the first wicket with Sai Sudarshan (39 runs in 30 balls). After this, Jos Buttler played an unbeaten innings of 50 runs in 26 balls which included four sixes and three fours.
Josh Butler scored a lot of runs against his old team
Butler played shots all around the field as per his wish and exposed the average bowling of the Royals. The Royals, who took many wrong decisions in the mega auction last year, do not have any match-winning bowler. Gill hit many spectacular shots on the leg side. Apart from hitting a six off Yudhvir Singh with a brilliant flick, he also sent the ball across the boundary over square leg and mid-on.
After Sudarshan was out, Butler scored 24 runs in an over of Wanindu Hasaranga by hitting three sixes and a four. Rajasthan Royals fans have not been able to understand till date why their team did not retain a brilliant batsman like Butler in the team and why he released him before the auction. After this over, acting captain Riyan Parag did not understand which bowler to trust.
Rajasthan Royals bowlers were in bad shape
Both Sri Lankan spinners Hasaranga and Mahish Theekshna could not do anything special while fast bowler Jofra Archer performed well in bits and pieces. Theekshna and Hasaranga together gave away 74 runs in eight overs. Gill was moving towards his fifth IPL century but was dismissed by Theekshna. After this, Butler along with Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia took Gujarat past 200 runs.
