Congress has sought a response from PM Modi on a US military official calling Pakistan the 'best partner' in counter-terrorism. Citing the news of Army Chief Munir's US visit, the party called it a 'diplomatic setback' for India and expected the government's response.
New Delhi: On a top US military official calling Pakistan the 'best partner' in the world of counter-terrorism, the Congress on Wednesday said what does Prime Minister Narendra Modi have to say about this and is it not a 'diplomatic setback'.
The main opposition party also cited a news claiming that Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir is going to visit Washington DC for the US Army Day celebrations. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that Munir's visit is 'another big diplomatic setback for India'.
US Central Command (Centcom) commander General Michael Kurilla has said that his country must maintain relations with both Pakistan and India. "Pakistan is currently active in the fight against terrorism and has been a great partner in the counter-terrorism world," he said.
Quoting his comments, Ramesh posted on 'X': "Just now the head of the US Central Command has described Pakistan as a 'great partner in the counter-terrorism campaign'. What will our Prime Minister and his accomplice say to this?
