New Delhi: Terrorists have killed 26 tourists by carrying out a cowardly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. These include 2 foreign tourists as well. Pakistan-backed TRF has taken responsibility for the attack. Seeing the horror of the attack, Home Minister Amit Shah himself has reached Srinagar. On the other hand, the army has started the search operation in Pahalgam. Amidst all these developments, questions are also being raised about the timing of this terror attack. At present, US Vice President JD Vance is on a 4-day visit to India with his family. His family is visiting different tourist places around Jaipur.
Actually, Pakistan is furious after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan's intelligence agency has tried to spread instability in Jammu and Kashmir many times by sending terrorists, but every time their plan was proving to be a failure. Till now terrorists have avoided targeting tourists. But this time Pak-backed terrorists have changed their pattern and directly targeted tourists. Let us know about the reasons due to which Pakistan is badly furious.
PAK is irritated by the progress of Jammu and Kashmir
- The Modi government removed Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir on 5 August 2019. Pakistan had strongly opposed this move of India. Pakistan tried many times to spoil the situation in Jammu and Kashmir by inciting the local people or spreading terrorism. But the Indian Army was foiling Pakistan's intentions many times. Not only this, the number of tourists in Jammu and Kashmir was also increasing continuously. Just last month, the Jammu and Kashmir government had released the figures in the assembly. It was told that from 2021 to 2024, 7 crore, 49 lakh 70 thousand 943 tourists have come to the Union Territory. Last year i.e. in 2024 itself, 2 crore 35 lakh 90 thousand 081 tourists had arrived inside Jammu and Kashmir. Seeing this progress in tourism in the valley, Pakistan was also sulking inside.
- Last year (2024), assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir after a full 10 years. Before this, the last elections were held in 2014. Pakistan hoped that after the elections were held after 10 years and the state status of Jammu and Kashmir was taken away, the people there would not participate in the voting and Pakistan would tell on the global platform that the people of the valley are not happy with the decision of the Government of India. But the voting pattern in the elections foiled Pakistan's plans. During the Lok Sabha elections, 58.58 percent people voted in Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, this figure increased further in the assembly elections. In the assembly elections held in 2024, 63.88 percent of the people of Jammu and Kashmir exercised their franchise. Pakistan was also upset with this.
- Voting was held on 90 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Omar Abdullah's party National Conference got the maximum number of seats in this election. After this Abdullah became the Chief Minister of the Union Territory. Initially, Omar Abdullah's attitude towards the central government seemed a bit tough. But soon there was a great coordination between him and the Center. The improving relations between the Center and J-K can be understood from the fact that Omar Abdullah has openly talked about working in coordination with the schemes of the Center many times. In February 2024, Prime Minister Modi launched a scheme regarding obesity. PM Modi had linked 10 people to this scheme, which also included Omar Abdullah. Omar Abdullah expressed happiness by joining this scheme.
- The central government is constantly trying to increase connectivity for Kashmir. Under this, preparations are also being made to run Vande Bharat Express train in Kashmir soon. This train is proposed to run from Katra to Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to inaugurate this train on 19 April itself, but for some reasons, its inauguration was postponed for the time being. To increase connectivity, the railways has also constructed the last part of the Katra-Sangaldan section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), which is a 272 km long project.
- Pakistan's irritation came to the fore when Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir openly made provocative statements. General Asim Munir described Kashmir as the 'jugular vein' of Pakistan and also urged Pakistanis living abroad to tell the story of the country to their children. Munir stressed that his ancestors believed that Hindus and Muslims are different in every aspect of life. Munir also said that the Indian Army with 1.3 million soldiers cannot scare Pakistan.
Who is TRF that carried out the attack?
The terrorist organization named The Resistance Front (TRF) has taken the responsibility of carrying out this attack. Pakistan is also behind the establishment of this terrorist organization active in Jammu and Kashmir. TRF was born as a branch of Pakistani terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). TRF was started by Lashkar after the abrogation of Article 370 and the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked.
