Lucknow: With the help of captain Jitesh Sharma's brilliant innings of 85* runs in 33 balls, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made the huge target of 228 runs given by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) look small. While chase master Virat Kohli (54 runs, 30 balls, 10 fours) played his fifth fifty plus innings while chasing the target this season.
With a six-wicket win in the last league match of the season, RCB secured the second position in the table and got the right to play the first qualifier. The first qualifier of the season will now be played on Thursday between RCB and Punjab Kings (PBKS), the two teams looking for their first IPL title. At the same time, Gujarat Titans will face five-time champion Mumbai Indians in the eliminator match to be held on May 30.
Vijay Mallya congratulated RCB
Former RCB owner Vijay Mallya has also congratulated the team on their victory over Lucknow. He tweeted from his official account on Instagram, 'Congratulations to RCB for a great win against LSG tonight and setting a record for winning the most away matches in IPL. Hopefully this tremendous rhythm and the return of the main players will help RCB play well to reach the IPL trophy.' However, users trolled Mallya on this tweet. They started asking him to return the country's money. Let us tell you that Vijay Mallya is accused of fraud with the bank and money laundering. He left the country and went to the UK before being arrested. Now he lives there. Congratulations to RCB for pulling off a phenomenal win over LSG tonight and setting an IPL record of away wins. Hopefully, strong momentum and return of key players will enable RCB to play bold en route to the IPL Trophy.
