Will Pakistan Stop India’s Flights? Big Decisions Likely in NSC Meet Amid Fear of Indian Retaliation

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir and the strict decisions taken by India, a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) is going on in Pakistan. This meeting of the NSC is being held in Islamabad on Thursday under the chairmanship of Pak PM Shahbaz Sharif. All the top ministers of the Pakistani government, army officers and people from agencies are included in it. The purpose of this meeting is to formulate a strategy on the steps taken by India after the Pahalgam attack. Pak Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that a decision will be taken in the NSC meeting on giving a detailed reply to India. However, the meeting is taking a lot of time.

According to a Geo TV report, Pakistan is considering its options in the meeting. In response to India's steps, one of the major options before the NSC is that Pakistan can ban flights of commercial airlines to and from India through its airspace. Pakistan did the same in 2019, when tensions between the two countries escalated after the Pulwama attack.

    Discussion on security issue

In the NSC meeting, there has been a long discussion on the country's external security (attack from India). Apart from this, India has announced the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan. The meeting also discussed how India should respond to this issue. Pak Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that India has not given any evidence linking Pakistan to the recent terrorist incident. It is wrong for India to blame Pakistan and express anger without any evidence.

Apart from suspending the Indus Water Treaty, India has also banned the entry of Pakistani citizens. Apart from this, India has immediately closed the Integrated Check Post Attari and has set a deadline for Pakistanis to leave the country before May 1, 2025. All SVES visas previously issued to Pakistani citizens have been canceled. Any Pakistani citizen currently present in India on SVES visa will have to leave India within 48 hours.
