UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described his eight-year tenure as the safest for Muslims. In a podcast with ANI, CM Yogi said, where there are 100 Hindu families, if one Muslim family lives there, then it is the safest. Muslim families get the freedom to do all their religious work. But the problem arises when 50 Hindu families live among 100 Muslim families. Can't they live? Muslims are the safest in UP. The most safe. If Hindus are safe then he is also safe. Through this interview, CM Yogi has given a clear message that if Hindus are safe then everyone is safe. But questions are being raised on his figures.
SP is asking how can a Yogi say this. So we thought why not weigh Yogi's statement on the scale of figures. Let's see if what Yogi is saying is accurate on the scale of figures... or is it just rhetoric... So first of all we took out the figures of the riots that took place in Uttar Pradesh. Because most of the common people lose their lives in riots. We compared the figures of five years of Akhilesh government and five years of Yogi government. You see the truth yourself.
What do the figures say
- According to NCRB, between 2012 and 2016, a total of 815 riots took place in Uttar Pradesh during Akhilesh Yadav's government. That is, on an average 163 riots took place in a year. On the other hand, in the first five years of Yogi Adityanath i.e. between 2017 and 2021, there were 231 riots. That is, on an average 46 riots took place in a year. The biggest communal violence in Uttar Pradesh happened in 1987…Meerut riots…at that time Veer Bahadur Singh of Congress was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh…Media reports say that 400 people died in that riot. Police were accused of shooting 42 Muslim youths in Hashimpura alone and throwing them in Hindon river and Ganga canal. This riot continued for 30-35 days.
- Then in 2005, riots happened in Mau…at that time the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh was Mulayam Singh Yadav…Government figures say that 14 people died in that riot…Violence continued in Mau for 6 days.
- In 2007, riots happened in Gorakhpur…at that time also Mulayam Singh Yadav was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh…The riots happened after a dispute during the Makar Sankranti procession in Mohammad Ali Road area…Figures say that 3 people died in that violence. Gorakhpur kept burning for 3-4 days.
- Muzaffarnagar riots happened in 2013… Akhilesh Yadav was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh at that time… Government figures say that 62 people lost their lives in this riot… More than 50,000 people were displaced… Muzaffarpur and the surrounding areas kept burning for 10 to 12 days.
Fact check of Yogi's law and order
Yogi Adityanath's government has been in power in Uttar Pradesh for the last 8 years… But not a single such incident happened in the last 8 years. Last year violence broke out during the immersion of the idol of Maa Durga in Bahraich… And one person also lost his life in it… But the whole matter was handled in a few hours. That is, whatever claim Yogi Adityanath has made about the safety of Muslims… The figures confirm it… But the question that is echoing today… is that if Muslims are safe, then where is the feeling of insecurity coming from?
