BJP Joins Hands with AIADMK in Tamil Nadu—Will This Alliance Shake Up the State?

The Bharatiya Janata Party and AIADMK i.e. AIADMK will fight the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections together. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced this on Friday. Amit Shah has announced this and said that the NDA government will be formed again in Tamil Nadu. The NDA will win the assembly elections with a huge majority. He has said that the NDA will contest the elections under the leadership of Palaniswami.

Amit Shah told the formula of the alliance

Amit Shah and Palaniswami were present on the stage in the joint press conference of BJP and AIADMK. Amit Shah said- "Today AIADMK and BJP have decided that the upcoming elections will be fought jointly by AIADMK, BJP and other parties under NDA. This election will be fought under the leadership of PM Modi at the national level and under the leadership of Palaniswami in the state. I am confident that NDA government will be formed in the upcoming elections. We will not interfere in the internal affairs of AIADMK. The leadership of AIADMK and the regional leadership of BJP will decide about the remaining parties. The number of seats and distribution of ministers after forming the government will be decided by both the parties after discussion. No talks are going on right now."

Amit Shah further said- "DMK is raising issues like Sanatan Dharma, language policy in Tamil Nadu to divert attention from the main issues. In Tamil Nadu, the public will vote against corruption, law and order, atrocities on Dalits and women."

This election will be fought under the leadership of PM Modi at the national level and under the leadership of Palaniswami in the state. I am confident that NDA government will be formed in the upcoming elections. We will not have any interference in the internal affairs of AIADMK. Amit Shah further said- "DMK is raising issues like Sanatan Dharma, language policy in Tamil Nadu to divert attention from the main issues. In Tamil Nadu, the public will vote against corruption, law and order, atrocities on Dalits and women." Why did BJP and AIADMK come together? Actually, assembly elections will be held in Tamil Nadu in the year 2026. There is an alliance of DMK and Congress in Tamil Nadu. In such a situation, BJP was also looking for a strong alliance partner in the state. This is the reason why talks were going on between BJP and AIADMK for the last several days regarding the alliance. Recently Palaniswami met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.

How much will BJP benefit from the alliance?

BJP and AIADMK contested the assembly elections together in the year 2021. 4 MLAs of BJP won the elections. However, before the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the alliance of BJP and AIADMK broke. In this election, both BJP and AIADMK could not win a single Lok Sabha seat. At the same time, the alliance of DMK and Congress got a big victory in the election. However, if we talk about vote share, then in the Lok Sabha elections, the vote percentage of BJP in Tamil Nadu was around 11.24% and that of AIADMK was around 20.46%. At the same time, DMK alone got 26.93% votes. In such a situation, BJP can benefit from the alliance with AIADMK for the assembly elections. BJP will get a chance to make inroads in different areas of Tamil Nadu and strengthen itself. If the government is formed in the state after an alliance with AIADMK, then the conflict between the BJP-led central government and the Tamil Nadu government will reduce.
