Owaisi's Fiery Protest: Tears Waqf Bill Copy in Lok Sabha, Calls It 'Attack on Muslims'

Hyderabad/New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday targeted the government over the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025. During his speech, Owaisi tore a copy of the Waqf Amendment Bill, calling the bill an 'unconstitutional act'. The JPC chief condemned Owaisi for this. Earlier, Owaisi called the bill an attack on the largest minority in the country. Owaisi criticized the government during the debate on the Waqf Bill in the Lok Sabha. Owaisi said that this law is against the largest minority community. He expressed his disagreement with the bill.

    Attack on minority community

Owaisi targeted the government and said that it is attacking the minority community. He strongly condemned this move of the government. He said that the Modi government is targeting my mosques, dargahs and madrasas. Owaisi says that this bill violates Articles 14, 25 and 26. It is against the principles of natural justice.

Tore the bill calling it unconstitutional

Owaisi said that the Modi government is attacking his religious freedom. Calling the bill unconstitutional, he talked about tearing it like Mahatma Gandhi. After this, the AIMIM chief tore the copy of the Waqf Amendment Bill during his remarks in the ongoing debate in the Lok Sabha. Owaisi alleged that BJP wants to create disputes in the name of temples and mosques. He said that non-Muslims are being included in the Muslim Waqf Act. This is completely different from the functioning of other religious boards. Owaisi said that any designated officer can decide that a mosque is government property and can be snatched.

The government is not telling the truth

Owaisi further said that with the implementation of this bill, the encroacher will become the owner. Also, a non-Muslim will be the administrator of the Waqf Board. Owaisi said in the Lok Sabha that this bill violates Article 14- Equal Protection. He feared that this would impose limits. Owaisi said that the government is not telling the truth.
