Rabri Devi’s Comeback! Will She Challenge Nitish Kumar’s ‘Vitamin M’ Politics?

Patna: Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi has suddenly become active in Bihar politics. In the proceedings of the budget session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Rabri Devi has single-handedly opened a front against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. She is looking very aggressive. She is seen directly targeting CM Nitish Kumar on every occasion.

Fierce debate between 'brother-in-law' Nitish and 'sister-in-law' Rabri in the Legislative Council

On Wednesday, Rabri Devi directly took on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the Bihar Legislative Council. There was a heated argument between the two leaders inside the house. Looking at Nitish and Rabri, who have a brother-in-law-sister-in-law relationship apart from politics, for a moment it seemed as if there was a tussle between the two during Holi. Not only CM Nitish, but Rabri Devi was also seen using such words for each other which cannot be parliamentary at all. But in the atmosphere of Holi, it can be seen as a tussle between brother-in-law and sister-in-law.

Why did Rabri come out to support son Tejashwi?

Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar at the end of this year. Be it the 2020 assembly elections or the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it has been said on all these occasions that Tejashwi Yadav is alone fighting against the BJP and Brigade in Bihar. Even Rahul Gandhi from the ally Congress was not seen supporting him in rallies.

It is believed that this matter has been taken seriously in the Lalu family. Father Lalu Prasad Yadav is not able to openly support son Tejashwi in electoral politics even if he wants to due to many types of diseases. In such a situation, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, who has been away from mainstream politics for about 15 years, has had to enter the fray. Rabri Devi has not only entered the fray, but she is not leaving a single opportunity to target CM Nitish in front of the House and the media.

Why did mother Rabri become important for Tejashwi?

There are about 3.5 crore women voters in Bihar. That is, about 47 percent of the total voters. So far it has been seen that most of the women voters have been united and expressing trust in Nitish Kumar. In the 2010, 2015 and 2020 assembly elections, women voters have been outnumbering men in voting. In such a situation, with Rabri Devi suddenly becoming active in Bihar politics, it is being speculated that this is an attempt to distract women voters from Nitish Kumar. However, how effective this move played by RJD and Tejashwi Yadav will be, it will be clear only after the result of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 comes out.

Rabri Devi has been the only woman Chief Minister of Bihar. She knows how to grind wheat by running a chakki (mill) and also how to handle the chair of Chief Minister in a state like Bihar in the absence of her husband Lalu. The image of being a working woman from a common household connects Rabri Devi directly with the housewives of Bihar.

Rabri is cornering Nitish by putting women in the forefront

If we look at the proceedings of the Bihar Legislative Council for the last 4-5 days, it becomes clear that Rabri Devi is targeting Nitish by keeping women at the center. Actually, Nitish Kumar has been continuously saying that he has done a lot of work for women. He continuously says in every address that before 2005, women in Bihar did not even have clothes to wear.

He gave 50 percent reservation to women in Panchayat and urban elections, gave reservation to women in government jobs, especially in police and teacher recruitment. In these statements of Nitish, Rabri Devi has caught the point of wearing clothes. She is constantly questioning from the House to the media cameras whether the women of Bihar used to remain naked before 2005. Nitish Kumar is insulting women.

Rabri is constantly raising this line and making it an issue of women's respect. Even outside the House, Rabri sat on a dharna with her women MLAs and in a harsh tone accused Nitish Kumar - 'He comes to the House after consuming ganja-bhaang and speaks nonsense about women. He disrespects me and the women of entire Bihar.'

Rabri also took charge of the Holi controversy and Baba Bageshwar issue

BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul advised Muslims not to leave the house on Holi. Go out only if you have a big heart and the strength to bear the color. Rabri Devi herself took charge of this statement. She said that there is hooliganism going on in Bihar and the Center. Dadagiri is going on in the government of goons.

Earlier, when Baba Bageshwar Dhirendra Shastri's statement on Hindu Rashtra created a ruckus, Rabri Devi came forward to give a statement. Rabri said, 'If the Prime Minister has the courage, he should try to drive out Muslims from the country and Bihar.'

Rabri also shows sympathy towards Nitish

Rabri Devi's attack also reflects a softness towards Nitish. On one hand, she accuses Nitish of speaking nonsense about women after smoking ganja-bhaang. On the other hand, she seems to acquit Nitish Kumar for these behaviors.

She says- 'There are five-six people in Bihar whoThey teach Nitish Kumar to behave so badly. These are the same people who follow Nitish and come after him. The same people tell him to speak like this. Nitish is in the lap of BJP. People of his party are also in cahoots with BJP. Something is said from there after which two-three people of his party make him make wrong statements. Among these three-four people, Lalan Singh, Sanjay Jha, Vijay Chaudhary, Ashok Chaudhary, these are the people who are making Nitish Kumar speak nonsense. Nitish's own people are provoking him and insulting him.'

Rabri Devi

Not only this, during the proceedings of the Legislative Council, Rabri Devi has also invited JDU to leave BJP and join RJD. At the same time, daughter Misa Bharti has even said that Nitish Kumar is a member of the family, so there is no need to invite him, he can return to the family anytime. Lalu Yadav has already said that the doors are open for Nitish.
