Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans Crush KKR at Eden Gardens, Close In on IPL 2025 Playoffs

Gujarat Titans defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 39 runs at their home ground with tight bowling after Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan's strong fifties. After losing the toss in the match, Gujarat's team, batting first, scored 198 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In response, KKR could only score 159 runs in 20 overs. In this way, Gujarat has registered its sixth win this season and has taken a strong step towards the playoffs with 12 points. At the same time, this is KKR's 5th defeat this season.

KKR's start was not very good while chasing the target against Gujarat. The team lost its first wicket in the form of Rahmanullah Gurbaz on a score of just 2 runs. However, after this captain Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine handled the innings for some time, but Narine got out after scoring 17 runs in an attempt to accelerate his innings. As soon as Narine was out, KKR came under pressure. Venkatesh Iyer also lost his wicket cheaply in an attempt to score runs at a fast pace while saving his wicket. Iyer could score only 14 runs in 19 balls.

Ajinkya Rahane's fifty went in vain

Ajinkya Rahane played an innings of 50 runs in 36 balls for KKR, but his half-century innings could not save KKR from defeat. Apart from Rahane, Andre Russell and Rinku Singh were seen struggling in the middle order. Once Russell tried to open his hands by taking a risk, but his innings ended at 21 runs in 15 balls.

Rinku Singh was a ray of hope after Andre Russell was out, but he also disappointed badly. Rinku could score only 17 runs in 14 balls. Apart from this, Ramandeep Singh got out on 1 and Moin Ali got out on zero and disappointed his team. Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who came to bat as an impact sub, definitely hit a couple of attractive shots, but by then it was too late. Raghuvanshi remained unbeaten for KKR by scoring 27 runs in 13 balls.

KKR helpless in front of Gujarat's bowling

Gujarat Titans' bowling was tremendous in the match against KKR. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid did wonders for Gujarat in this match. Both these bowlers took two wickets each. Apart from this, Mohammad Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Washington Sundar and Sai Kishore took one wicket each. In this way, KKR batsmen looked completely helpless against Gujarat.

    Gujarat Titans' batting was excellent

Talking about Gujarat Titans' batting, the start was a bit slow, but after the powerplay, Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill picked up their pace. Sai Sudarshan and Shubman shared a 114-run partnership for the first wicket during this period. During this, Sudarshan was out after scoring 52 runs in 36 balls. In this innings, he also hit 6 fours and 1 six. At the same time, Shubman Gill played an explosive innings of 90 runs in 55 balls while Jos Buttler also contributed 41 runs in 23 balls.
