Amit Shah's Bengal Challenge: 'Will Proudly Explain Waqf Bill Truths to Minority Brothers'

New Delhi: The central government on Wednesday introduced the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. During the discussion on this bill, there were many occasions when there was a commotion in the House. A similar situation arose when Union Home Minister Amit Shah was presenting his point in support of the Waqf Bill. He said that the opposition says that this bill is against the Constitution. We did not tamper with the Waqf. Amendments were made for the Waqf Board and Waqf Council. Its functioning is administrative.

How did Bengal come up?

Shah further said that we are not touching the Mutawalli. They were saying that there were no irregularities, if Congress had not brought an unjust law in 2013, then this bill would not have come. During this, opposition MPs made some comments, to which Amit Shah replied bluntly. He said that I will come to Bengal and say this with pride. During this, there was a ruckus in the House. On the ruckus of TMC MPs, Amit Shah said that they are scared about 2026, there is an election, right brother.

TMC MP's challenge, Shah's blunt answer

Actually, Amit Shah said during the discussion that an MP threatened that minorities will not accept this law. The Union Home Minister said in clear words in the House that this is the law of the Government of India and the Parliament, everyone will have to accept it. When Amit Shah said this, some comments were made by TMC MPs. A Trinamool Congress MP said that he will come to Bengal and say the same thing. Then Amit Shah challenged him and said that he will come to Bengal and say it with pride. This is not an arena for political calculations.

Not a single non-Muslim will come in Waqf- Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah further said that the opposition wants vote bank, but the clear principle of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Modi government is that we will not bring any law for vote bank. The law is for justice, for the welfare of the people. I want to tell the Muslims of the country through this House that not a single non-Muslim will come in your Waqf. There is no such provision in this law, but what will the Waqf Board and Waqf Council do? They will catch and throw out those who sell Waqf properties.

'Now Waqf property will not be created only by declaration'

Amit Shah said that the income of Waqf is falling, through which development has to be done for the minorities and they have to be taken forward. The Waqf Board and Council will work to catch the money that is stolen. This bill will provide security to the lands. Just by declaring someone's land as Waqf property will not become a property. Now the land of Archaeological Department, tribal brothers, common citizens will be protected.

Shah told what are the main points in the Waqf Bill

Amit Shah said in clear words that donation can be made only of one's own property, not of the village's property. Through this bill, the right to declare Waqf property has been abolished. Now for any such land, it will have to be certified by the District Collector. Shah said that between 2001-12, Waqf property worth two lakh crores was transferred to private institutions on a lease of hundred years. The High Court in Bengaluru had to intervene and stop the confiscation of 602 acres of land. This money belongs to the poor Muslims of the country, it is not for the theft of rich people.

When Shah said - another misunderstanding is being spread...

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that another misunderstanding is being spread that this bill will be implemented with retrospective effect. When you speak in this House, speak responsibly. The bill clearly states that the law will come into force after the government issues a notification after the bill is passed. There is no retrospective effect. Shah further said that the misconceptions that are being spread, I want to clearly say that Waqf is a trust from the religious activities of Muslim brothers and the donations made by them. The government does not want to interfere in it. The Mutawalli will also be theirs, the Waqif will also be theirs, the Waqf will also be theirs.

What did Amit Shah say in Lok Sabha on Waqf Bill, know the important points

  • Calling Waqf Bill an interference in the religious matters of Muslims is to create fear for vote bank
  • Waqf Council, Waqf Board came into existence in 1995, non-Muslims will have no role in religious matters
  • The purpose of Waqf Council and Board is to catch those who misuse Waqf properties
  • Non-Muslims have been included in Waqf Council and Board, these bodies are solely to ensure administration of properties in accordance with the declared objectives
  • An MP threatened that minorities will not accept this law, this is the law of the Government of India and Parliament, everyone will have to accept it - Amit Shah
  • The Waqf Act was made in 2013 for extreme appeasement; if this was not done, then perhaps this bill would not have been needed.
