Delhi Elections: 60% Turnout! Exit Polls Show Shocking Trends for AAP-BJP-Congress

New Delhi: This time 60.42 percent voting has taken place in the Delhi Assembly elections. The Election Commission has given this update at around 11 pm. Both Aam Aadmi Party and BJP were accused of irregularities including distribution of money and fake voting. In this election, the turnout was slightly less than the 2020 assembly elections of 62.59 percent. In the last election, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party won 62 out of 70 seats. BJP got eight seats, while Congress could not even open its account.

60.42 percent voting in Delhi elections

Long queues of voters were seen outside polling stations in different constituencies of Delhi since morning. People kept waiting even after the scheduled time of ending of voting at 6 pm. Soon after this, the exit poll results started coming, many of which have predicted the victory of BJP over the ruling Aam Aadmi Party. Congress seems to be getting defeated once again.

    Voters showed enthusiasm for voting.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, 60.42 percent voting took place till 6 pm. There are a total of 1.56 crore voters in Delhi. Officials updated the figures of all 13,766 polling stations. The Election Commission said in an official statement that voting took place in a peaceful and festive atmosphere in all 70 assembly seats of Delhi. Voters were happy with the voting process and the facilities at the voting centers. After the formal closing time of voting i.e. 6 pm, all the voters standing in the queue were allowed to cast their vote.

How was the scene at the voting centers

Polling centers across the city were decorated and posters of celebrities with special messages were put up to make voters feel the true festive spirit. One such poster had a picture of Lata Mangeshkar, while several others had pictures of Paralympians. A total 699 candidates are in the fray. This election will decide whether the AAP comes to power for the third time in Delhi or the BJP gets a chance to form the government in the national capital after 27 years. The Congress also tried its best to regain its foothold in the city's politics.
