JNU Election Result: Left Alliance Retains Hold, ABVP Makes Strong Inroads

JNU Election Result 2025: The Left alliance is once again dominating the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union elections 2024-25. In this election, the AISA-DSF alliance won a total of 3 major seats including the president, while the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won 1 seat. ABVP claims that it has won 23 out of 44 counselor seats in various schools and special centers, indicating a significant change in JNU student politics.

AISA-DSF candidate Nitish Kumar won the post of President, he got 1702 votes, while his rival Shikha (ABVP) got 1430 votes. At the same time, Manisha of DSF was elected Vice President and Munteha Fatima was elected General Secretary.

Vaibahv Meena of ABVP won the post of Joint Secretary, he got 1518 votes. Voting for JNUSU elections was held on Friday (25 April), in which a total of 70 percent voting took place, which shows the large participation of students in the election process.

ABVP got 2 seats in School of Social Science

This election highlighted the historic success of ABVP in breaking the stronghold of the left in the field of education. After 25 years, ABVP won 2 seats in the School of Social Science, which is being considered a big achievement for the student council. ABVP leaders say that this victory is the most important in electoral history compared to any other student organization.

ABVP has also performed well in various schools and centers of JNU. ABVP won 2 out of 5 counselor seats in the School of International Studies, which indicates the growing strength of the organization. However, the victory of the Left alliance also proved that the hold of leftist ideology is still strong in JNU. This election has pointed towards new equations in student politics, which can become even more interesting in future.
