    Pahalgam Terror Attack Fallout: Modi Govt Cancels Pakistanis' Visas, Suspends Indus Treaty

    In a bold move after the Pahalgam terror attack, India cancels visas of Pakistani nationals and halts the Indus Water Treaty. Ministry of External Affairs confirms the action in a press briefing.

    Pahalgam Terror Attack Fallout: Modi Govt Cancels Pakistanis' Visas, Suspends Indus Treaty

    New Delhi: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the central government has taken a big action against Pakistan. The government has stopped the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam attack. Apart from this, the government has ordered Pakistani citizens to leave India by May 1. The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information in a press conference. 28 people died in the Pahalgam attack, most of whom were tourists, and many were injured. It is considered to be the deadliest terrorist attack in the Kashmir Valley after the 2019 Pulwama attack.


    Four major decisions of the government after the Pahalgam attack

    The Ministry of External Affairs said in a press conference that an urgent meeting of the CCS was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi. The CCS strongly condemned this attack. Countries around the world have condemned this attack. We have a zero tolerance policy against terrorism.


    • The central government has decided to close the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan.


    • The staff of the Pakistani Embassy in Delhi will be reduced.


    • Visas of all Pakistanis have been canceled.


    • Pak citizens will have to return within 48 hours.


    • India has decided to close the check point at the Attari-Wagah border.


    PM Modi held a CCS meeting


    Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who returned to Delhi on Wednesday morning leaving his Saudi Arabia tour midway, has expressed deep grief over the attack and convened a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). On the other hand, Home Minister Amit Shah met the victim families in Srinagar and chaired a security review meeting.


    Countries around the world condemned the attack

    This attack in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam has shocked the country and the world. Many countries including the US, United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Saudi Arabia have strongly condemned it. US Vice President JD Vance called Prime Minister Modi and expressed condolences and assured to stand with India against terrorism.
