    PM Modi speaks with Tariq Rahman after BNP victory in Bangladesh polls

    New Delhi: The election results in Bangladesh have been announced. The Tariq Rahman-led BNP has secured a majority. According to media reports, the BNP has won over 151 seats in the 300-seat parliament. PM Narendra Modi spoke with BNP leader Tariq Rahman over the phone after the election victory. Congratulating Rahman on his victory, PM Modi spoke with him on the phone, citing the historical and cultural history of the two countries. Following the BNP's victory in the Bangladesh elections, India hopes for improved relations with its neighboring country. PM Modi's congratulatory message after the victory is considered significant in this regard.


    What did PM Modi write in his tweet?

    PM Modi wrote on the social media platform X that he was delighted to speak with Mr. Tarique Rahman. He congratulated him on his resounding victory in the Bangladesh elections. He further wrote that he extended his best wishes and support in his efforts to fulfill the expectations of the people of Bangladesh.


    Prime Minister Modi said that as two close neighbors with deep historical and cultural ties, he reaffirmed India's continued commitment to the peace, progress, and prosperity of the people of both countries.


    Congratulated immediately after the victory

    Prior to this, PM Modi had also congratulated Tarique Rahman after the election results were announced. In his message, PM Modi wrote, "I heartily congratulate Mr. Tarique Rahman on leading the BNP to a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections in Bangladesh. This victory reflects the trust the people of Bangladesh have in your leadership."


    PM Modi wrote that India will stand in support of a democratic, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh. He said, I look forward to working with you to strengthen our many relationships and advance our common development goals.
