Rahul Gandhi, Kanimozhi meet in Delhi; seat-sharing talks remain inconclusive

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and DMK parliamentary party leader Kanimozhi met in Delhi on Wednesday. However, a final agreement on key alliance issues for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections could not be reached. According to sources, the two leaders discussed political and organizational issues that need to be resolved. However, no concrete discussions took place regarding seat sharing, nor was the number of seats to be allocated to the Congress discussed.

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi told Kanimozhi that the team selected by the Congress president would handle the seat allocation discussions. The DMK does not currently appear to be in favor of significantly increasing the number of seats for the Congress.

Congress received 25 seats in the last election

In the last assembly elections, the Congress was given 25 seats under the DMK alliance, while this time the DMK has already committed to giving the Congress one Rajya Sabha seat.

Congress wants a share in power

The Congress has already made it clear that if the alliance wins the next assembly elections and returns to power, it will demand a share in the government. However, the DMK has not yet given any positive response on this. Although the relationship between DMK president, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Rahul Gandhi is considered good, the formation of actor Vijay's party is creating new dynamics in the state.
