New Delhi: Central trade unions and farmers' organizations have called for a nationwide strike and Bharat Bandh on Thursday against the alleged "anti-labor" policies of the central government. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi posted on X in this regard. Citing the four labor codes, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, alleged that the future of workers and farmers has been ignored. He questioned whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi will listen to the workers and farmers, or whether some "grip" has a strong hold on them.
What Rahul Gandhi said
Rahul Gandhi posted on X that today millions of workers and farmers across the country are on the streets to raise their voice for their rights. Workers fear that the four labor codes will weaken their rights. According to them, farmers fear that the trade agreement (with the US) will harm their livelihoods.
"Does a 'grip' have a strong hold on PM Modi?"
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said that weakening or eliminating MNREGA could take away the last support of villages. When decisions related to their (workers' and farmers') future were made, their voices were ignored. He questioned whether PM Modi would listen now, or is a 'grip' having a strong hold on him?
I stand firmly with the workers and farmers - Rahul
Rahul Gandhi further stated that he stands firmly with the issues and struggles of workers and farmers. Opposition MPs also protested inside the Parliament complex. Before the session began at 11 a.m. on Thursday, opposition MPs gathered at Makar Dwar to protest against the terms of the Indo-US trade deal. They expressed solidarity with the all-India strike called by farmers' organizations.
