Supreme Court Upholds Cancellation of 25,000 WB Teacher Jobs, Deals Major Blow to Mamata Govt

West Bengal Teacher Recruitment: In the West Bengal teacher recruitment case, the Supreme Court upheld the High Court's decision to cancel 25 thousand teacher recruitment. Mamata government had gone to the Supreme Court against this decision of the High Court. Therefore, it is being considered a big setback.

Mamata government has got a big setback from the Supreme Court in the West Bengal teacher recruitment case. The Supreme Court has upheld the High Court's decision to cancel 25 thousand teacher recruitment. The bench of CJI i.e. Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice PV Sanjeev Kumar refused to interfere in the decision of the Calcutta High Court. The bench admitted that there has been fraud and cheating in the appointment of teacher recruitment.

In fact, giving a big setback to the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal, the Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the decision of the Calcutta High Court, which ordered the cancellation of the appointments of 25,000 teaching and non-teaching staff by the State School Service Commission (WBSSC) in 2016. The case is allegedly related to giving jobs in exchange for money for jobs in schools.

What did the Supreme Court comment

According to the Bar and Bench report, the Supreme Court said in its decision, 'We have seen the facts. There has been manipulation and fraud in the entire selection process regarding the findings of this case. This has destroyed its credibility and validity. There is no reason to interfere. All the tainted candidates appointed by fraud should be dismissed and the appointments were the result of fraud.'

Supreme Court gave relief to the candidate

However, the Supreme Court said that the candidates who have already been appointed do not need to return the salary received so far. The bench also ordered that a new selection process be completed within three months. The court said, 'Exemption can also be given to clean candidates in the new selection process.'
